The Full Experience
Learn how the Southern Province became producer of the world’s best cinnamon and the local techniques used, on this guided journey of a hillside estate.
A cinnamon infused juice greets you before your ascent through the estate (we can arrange a tuk tuk, let us know when booking). Stroll uphill to the peeling and oil extraction shed where local peelers gather to process cinnamon of the estate and nearby small-holdings. Many women peelers work here and often a whole family gets involved! Hear about the influence of colonisation, the uses and benefits of cinnamon, its grading and community focus here. At the top, there is a breath-taking view, tea, and the chance to try your hand with the tools of the trade in an Ambalama. Let us know if you would also like to do a 20 minute tea tasting!
